1.3.2.5. Replacement of wheels
When it is necessary to replace wheels
If the wheel has damage, for example, a bend, cracks or strong corrosion, – it has to be replaced. Otherwise the tire can slide off a wheel or it will lead to loss of management.
Choice of wheels
Wheels have to be replaced with what have the same permissible load, diameter, width of a rim and a departure. The wheel of other size or type can negatively influence driving, service life of a wheel and the bearing, cooling of brakes, calibration of the speedometer / odometer, ability of a stop, aiming of headlights, bumper height, clearance of the car and an interval from the tire or a chain of antisliding to a body and the chassis.
Replacement by the used wheels is not recommended. Never use a tire tube in a wheel with leak which was designed for the tubeless tire.
Aluminum wheels
After passing by the car of the first 1600 km check that nuts of wheels were normally tightened.
If shift, repair or replacement of tires was carried out, check that nuts of wheels were still tightened after passing of 1600 km.
When using chains be careful not to damage aluminum wheels.
Use only the nuts of wheels and a wrench of Toyota intended for aluminum wheels.
When balancing wheels use only counterbalances of Toyota or equivalent to them and the plastic or rubber hammer.
As well as when using any wheels, periodically check aluminum wheels for damage. If it is, immediately replace a wheel.
