3.4.5. System of ignition
Standard system of ignition of the considered cars
1. Sensor of rotation of a cam-shaft
2. Sensor of rotation of the crankshaft 3. Other sensors |
4. From the battery 5. Ignition coil 6. Candle |
The considered cars are equipped with system of ignition without distributor (so-called DIS system) in which one coil is the share of two cylinders.
In DIS system two-spark ignition is used. The spark appears at the same time in two cylinders, the piston of one makes a compression step, and another – a release step. And, in the first of these cylinders the power of the spark category much more exceeds category power in the second in which the spark is used only for reburning of the remains of not burned down gas mixture. On V6 engines the spark is created in pairs of cylinders 1-4, 2-5, 3-6, and in 4-cylinder – 1-4 and 3-2.
Sensors of rotation of a cam-shaft and the crankshaft, the processor (PCM module), coils and the electronic module are a part of DIS system of ignition. The processor forms identification signals for each cylinder which start the electronic module switching ignition coils. The processor block automatically regulates the ignition moment in response to the signals arriving from various sensors of the car. The electronic module distributes signals on the corresponding coils and sets delay time before switching of the coil according to current in primary chain.
On V6 engines of a candle of the left head of cylinders are inserted directly into sockets on coils, and candles of the right head of cylinders connect to coils wires. On 4-cylinder engines of the coil are mounted near a head of cylinders, candles connect to coils wires. The electronic module is mounted on V6 engines near the main cylinder of brakes, under the assembly block of the relay, on 4-cylinder engines the module non-demountable is built in a casing of coils and changes together with them.
Prevention
Connect a tachometer according to the instruction of the manufacturer. Some tachometers are incompatible with system of electric equipment of the car. Before acquisition of a tachometer consult in service of car service.
Do not allow a contact of conclusions of the coil of ignition with a weight.
It is forbidden to disconnect the battery from weight on the working engine.
Constantly you watch that the block of electronic ignition was reliably connected to weight.
Check
If the engine is not started, and the starter rotates the crankshaft, then disconnect a wire from a candle of the left cylinder and connect to a test rated sportsman. The rated sportsman has to be specially intended for check of DIS system. |
Start the engine and check existence of a spark.
If the spark is observed, then turn out candles and check their state.
Prevention
If the spark is absent, or sparking unstable, then check tension from the battery on each coil. If tension is, then check resistance of windings of the coil.
For check of tension on the coil on the 4-cylinder engine disconnect the socket, include ignition and attach the voltmeter to a conclusion of 1 socket (check is carried out on the idle engine). |
For check of tension on the coil on the V6 engine disconnect the socket, include ignition and attach the voltmeter to a conclusion of 1 socket (check is carried out on the idle engine). |
Check sensors of rotation of shaft (see subsection 7.2.10., subsection 7.2.11.).
Check on coils a signal from the processor (on the 4-cylinder engine) or from the electronic block (on the V6 engine).
For this purpose on the 4-cylinder engine check presence of voltage of 5 V on a conclusion 3 sockets of the coil at the included ignition. |
Check also presence of the fluctuating tension 0,1-4,0 B on a conclusion 2 sockets (for this purpose the assistant has to include a starter). If on sockets of coils tension does not meet these standards, then replace or repair the processor block, otherwise 5 replace the coil with the electronic block.
On the 6-cylinder engine existence of a signal is checked by connection of a light-emitting diode for 12 V on a conclusion 2 sockets which has to blink at inclusion of a starter. If the blinking is absent, then check the electronic block of ignition (see subsection 3.4.8.). |
